Sponsoring a Davis Amusement Cascadia Carnival

We have found that the following information is beneficial to a potential carnival sponsor to determine the feasibility of participating in such a project. We hope this information will give you a better understanding of the requirements for a carnival and provide a clear understanding of how such an event is organized.

1. We need a level area. The foot print of the carnival location would be determined by the number of rides and the amount of equipment brought to the event. We frequently play on grass fields, however, we prefer blacktop during times when weather can be a problem. Our preference is a location which has good visibility to the public from a high traffic street. Locations can vary from mall parking lots to school yards to parks.

3. Portable restrooms must be procured for public use at the carnival - minimum of 4 toilets. We also utilize a 40-yard waste dumpster, depending on the size of the event.

4. When permits are required, such as city permits and licenses, the sponsor is responsible for obtaining them. The permit process should be started as soon as the contract is signed. Many times, the fees will be waived by the city for a nonprofit sponor or for a civic group.

5. Distribution of posters advertising the event is the sponsor's responsibility. Davis Amusement Cascadia will provide the posters without cost to the sponsor.

6. If private security or police supervision is needed or required, the sponsoring group would need to arrange for that. The number required varies according to area and/or permit requirements. The cost of security is discussed when the contract is negotiated.

7. Davis Amusement Cascadia will furnish a certificate of liability insurance to cover the operation of the carnival. The sponsoring organization, property owners and the city in which the carnival is being held are named as additional insureds.

8. Cooperation and enthusiasm are essential from a sponsoring organization to make the carnival a successful and profitable event.
