Employee Safety and Maintenance Procedures Ride safety is of critical importance to the amusement industry. Not only do operators have an obligation to provide the public with safe recreation, but the very success of their business depends on it. The amusement industry has been providing safe, quality, family entertainment for over a century, and is dependent upon repeat business. Failure to maintain the extraordinary safety record of the industry would quickly lead to widespread business collapse. The industry is safe because it has good employee training programs, rigorous insurance examinations and good maintenance and testing programs. As technologies improve and a higher degree of sophistication is achieved, the already excellent record of the industry will be even better. Every year the Northwest Showmans Club puts on a nationally accredited safety seminar. DAVIS AMUSEMENT CASCADIA has been sending employees since 1983. In addition, we hold scheduled safety meetings to discuss safety procedures with new employees. The rides also undergo a safety check daily before each ride is opened to the public. Our rides are inspected by the insurance carriers inspectors as well as the inspectors for the respective states and stickered in the states of Oregon and Washington.
Our remarkable safety record reflects the high priority given to ride safety by the operators of DAVIS AMUSEMENT CASCADIA. Operators work continuously to maintain and improve the already impressive safety record. The first responsibility for safety rests with carnivals themselves. Through programs in maintenance, operations and personnel training, we are actively engaged in ride safety programs within our own facilities. Something that many potential regulators overlook is that carnivals are already subject to compliance with national, state and local codes. Further, the carnival is subject to rigorous "risk-control" inspections by representatives of insurance carriers who work closely with the carnival's own safety and operational maintenance professionals in developing and implementing the newest procedures in safety. DAVIS AMUSEMENT CASCADIA
keeps a full time maintenance shop open to ensure rides are well maintained
and will function properly. We also have two fully equipped shop trucks
for emergency repairs. Carnival area will be cleaned every night at the
closing of the show. DAVIS AMUSEMENT CASCADIA will also clean carnival area prior to leaving the grounds,
or hire someone to do the same upon leaving. |
